I was drinking the other night, and I was also browsing Reddit writing prompts, which is a good way to produce something interesting. Probably not good, but definitely interesting.
I just found this in a text document on my laptop:
The man reels in his own filth. But don’t call him a man; the time was when referring to him as a man would result in a very painful, if quick, death. And indeed, he doesn’t resemble a man now. He’s an animal, grunting and howling as he scratches himself and lopes around the room on all fours.
Um.
I think it was supposed to be about a king?
My original intent is now an utter mystery. I may try to make up something new and continue it.
Regarding the text document: everybody has their own favorite way to write. Mine is Notepad++. Who knows why. It’s really intended more for coding than for writing, but I can’t seem to handle putting my words into anything more complex than a text doc and I like the fact that it has tabs. This means that when I need italics or anything like that, I end up putting in basic HTML markup. Which is silly. There is a ton of software out there that will permit me to do italics. But on and along I go.
Also I make the text background a sort of blue-gray teal and the lettering grayish white. Been doing that for thirteen years now. It just makes my eyes happier.
